Enneagram 2: The Helper
This week I’m talking about the two’s. Remember there are no good or bad enneagrams. Each enneagram is good and each enneagram can have unhealthy traits.
The twos are the helpers. They are the kindest, sweetest, gentlest souls. They are supportive, caring, upbeat and extremely tender hearted. They are the first person to show up at a party and always asking what they can do to help and the last to leave since they want to help everything get put away. The twos are the moms of the enneagrams. They want to make sure that you are taken care of. They are driven to give to others. They have a six sense and can understand what you need. It’s their intuitive sense and they can read other people. Twos need to be needed. They want to help others. They are cheerful, likeable to others and people pleasers.
What’s interesting is that they have a hard time understanding what they are feeling. They are not Intune to their own feelings. They do not ask for help because they want to be independent. They have a hard time accepting. They are also extremely sensitive to criticism. Twos put everyone else’s needs before their own because they don’t understand what they need and they want to help other people which fulfills them.
If you truly want to help a two you need to just show up and help. Don’t ask just do. Two’s have an underlined hope that they get something in return. Whether it is a thank you, attention, one on one time with you or to feel loved. It doesn’t have to be a huge gesture. They truly believe for them to be loved they have to give, they believe that’s the only reason people love them because they give.
Two’s are susceptible to being used, mistreated due to their people pleasing and giving.
As twos become healthier and set boundaries with others they are able to not get walked on. In order to help twos in a relationship you can give them praise, thank yous and love because they give and give.
Twos deepest desire is to feel loved. They associate love with helping others and they give and give with their whole soul. They fear being unwanted or unworthy of love. It can be detrimental especially if they are around toxic people or people that treat them unkindly. As twos get healthier and set boundaries, they will find those that they can trust and love
Two’s need to be in a position that they can work with people. Two’s are good in customer service because they can determine what people need and they always have a smile on their face.
